20 October, 2023
We wanted to get some preliminary notice out to the membership to enable some forward planning for archers wishing to attend the 80th Outdoor National Championship 2024.
You will see some changes this year as we embark on something a little different than what we are used to and modernising the Archery NZ Outdoor Nationals to be more in line with a format consistent with how archery tournaments are now shot all around the world.
First thing you will notice is that we have separated the Field Championship from the Target Championship, with the Field Championship being held in February and the Target Championship in April.
Additionally, the 1440 round has been removed from the schedule – reasoning for this is that it is not consistent with what the majority of other countries are doing. Upon looking at the feedback from the Archery NZ Nationals survey, a combined 71 % of archers who responded were either happy to leave it up to the LOC to decide, wanted it removed or didn’t know.
And we will not be offering the Novice / Development divisions in 2024.
Reminder to keep an eye on the National Tournament page for official details.
The dates and format for 2024 are:
* Field Championship: 23-25th February 2024
Field Championship - WA 24 Target Unmarked Field
Field Championship – WA 24 Target Marked Field
Field Match Play – Actual competition – details to follow.
* Target Championship: 29th March – 2nd April 2024 (Easter)
Clout Championship
Target Championship – 2 x WA 720 rounds
Match Play – 3-Person Teams
2-Person Teams
Matchplay – Open, Masters and Youth Individual
Finals Day: Barebow Finals, Recurve Finals, Compound Finals
Banquet: Black, White & Grey – Formal Dress
Please Note: There will be limited entries available due to the capacity of the venue, early entry is highly recommended.
2024 marks the 80th Jubilee of the Archery NZ Outdoor Nationals your local LOC – River Glade Archers are really hoping to make it both events fun and memorable. We look forward to hosting you all once again.
Best Regards
