Member Protection Policy - Inclusivity Update

20 April, 2022

Archery NZ promotes a safe and welcoming environment for everyone involved in our sport. We are pleased to announce a revised Member Protection Policy that enables transgender, intersex and non-binary athletes the ability to compete in the gender category most aligned with their self-identification for domestic competitions (club shoots, postal competitions, minor and major local tournaments, and National Championships) without the need for medication and hormonal testing.

The International Olympic Committee has announced a Framework that allows international federations to define eligibility criteria applicable to their sport. World Archery currently refers to IOC policy, and has not yet clarified what this means for international competition eligibility. Until World Archery determines its policy, Archery NZ's previous policy will apply for athletes seeking international representation. We are supportive of World Archery delivering a more inclusive policy for trans, intersex and non-binary athletes in international competitions.

Archery NZ is committed to providing an opportunity for all athletes to participate and compete in our sport without unnecessary barriers, and this policy update seeks to progress this direction, and provide our athletes with clear eligibility criteria.

You can download the file here or from our Policies page.
