Trans-Tasman Challenge
Every second year Archery New Zealand selects a youth team to compete against Australia. This competition is called the Trans-Tasman Challenge. This event is located either in New Zealand or Australia on a rotating basis.
Archery NZ sets a qualifying criteria, consisting of the score level required, and the number needed to be achieved within a given time frame. There are usually compulsory tournaments to also be shot. These often include the Outdoor National Championships and the Youth North or South Island Championships.
Youth also need to register their intent to apply for this tournament, which can be done on the Selection page. Scores from their tournaments are recorded and monitored by the Selection Panel, who then will name the team before the event.
The Trans-Tasman is a self-funded event. Archers and accompanying Manager/Coach/Parents or Supporters fund their own transport, accommodation and meals, etc. These arrangements are often made by Team Management.
