The Record Breaker tournament was a huge success, with organisers able to fit in a mammoth three 72-arrow rounds over the course of the day.  Mountain Green Archery Club obtained with special help from the Tūpuna Maunga Authority which manages the Ōwairaka maunga to enable this to happen.

This long day resulted in some very tired but happy archers, including a substantial number of barebow competitors (and recurve archers who stripped their bows down and competed as barebowers for the occasion).

According to the World Archery calendar, the event was the first outdoor tournament in the world on 15 January 2020, which should enable the barebow archers in Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Masters Barebow categories to be holders of unofficial world records until their scores are bettered. An indoor event was held in Iceland on the same date, at which new indoor Barebow records were likely also set. Australia has a few outdoor competitions later in January which include Barebow categories. We'll watch these with great interest.

The Record Breaker event also included a large number of youth archers seeking qualifying scores for the upcoming Oceania Championships in April, as well as senior recurve and compound archers who took advantage of the beautiful calm weather and quiet weekday environment to shoot some great scores!
