Commonwealth Youth Games
Congratulations to Chayse Martin-Roberts, who is in Samoa, as our sole archery representative at the Commonwealth Youth Games.
In the Qualification Round he ranked 5th with a score of 626 in the 60m 72 arrow round.
In the Elimination Rounds he knocked out the 4th seed from Scotland 6-2 to progress through to the semi-finals, where he put up a great fight against the number 1 ranked archer from India to finish 3-7. This put Chayse into the Bronze medal match against Arne Jensen from Tonga. In a very tight battle which went backwards and forwards he eventually prevailed in a one arrow shoot-off to claim the Bronze medal.
This is only the second medal at Commonwealth Games level for Archery New Zealand, with Neroli Fairhall shooting for Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, 1982.
