Letter from Halberg Junior Disability Games

23 April 2015

Scott Collett
Archery NZ

Dear Scott Collett,

We sincerely thank you for supporting the 2015 Halberg Junior Disability Games.

The Halberg Junior Disability Games held in Cambridge from 10 - 12 April, 2015 is the only national sports event of its kind for physically disabled and vision impaired young people.

The Games would have been impossible without organisations like Archery NZ helping to deliver or support the event.

The Halberg Disability Sport Foundation hosted the Games for the first time this year following an invitation from the Independence Games Trust in 2014.  The event provides athletes with an opportunity to enjoy the thrill of competition, try new sports, share some healthy comradery and make new friends.

Over 100 athletes attended the Games with athletes coming from all around New Zealand to take part.  Sports on offer included ambulant football, athletics, blind cricket, cycling, equestrian, powerchair football, rowing, swimming and we also hosted the Junior National Wheelchair Basketball Championships and the Junior National Boccia Championships.

Feedback to date from the athletes, supporters and our other event partners indicates that while there are some learnings for future events the Games were a success and we would like to thank you for your input towards making this happen.

Without the support of our partners the Games would not have happened so we are sincerely grateful for your support and time.

On behalf of Sir Murray Halberg and the Foundation our sincerest thanks and appreciation for your support of the Halberg Junior Disability Games.

Kind regards,

Geoff Burgess

Chief Executive Officer
