Kapiti Coast Archery Club
Kapiti Coast Archery Club (KCAC) is a specialty Field Archery club sited off Reikorangi Road , in Waikanae.
Field Archery is the sport of shooting artificial targets in simulated bow hunting conditions. This includes imitation 3D animal targets, photo or painted animal target faces and traditional round targets, spaced at distances from 10 to 80 yards across all types of terrain, from wooded hillsides, native bush and forest areas to open grassland.
This diversity of target types, courses and terrain, as well as the exercise involved in walking the course, make the sport far more interesting and challenging compared to traditional target archery. A variety of archery equipment (bows only) and shooting techniques can be used. Field Archery is a sport that suits individuals and families.
The Club places the highest importance on safety, and all beginners are trained and supervised by experienced field archers. Participants progress through several stages of competency gaining badges as their skills in accuracy, distance estimation and safety awareness improve.
We meet every Sunday for 2 – 3 hours starting at 9.30 am, at the Club grounds off Reikorangi Road , Waikanae. To get there:
Heading north through Waikanae on State Highway 1, turn right at the railway crossing traffic lights. Proceed along Elizabeth Street , past the water treatment plant on the right side. The Club grounds are signposted on the right hand side of the road just over 2 kilometres from the railway crossing in Waikanae, and just under 1 kilometre past the water treatment plant.
