It has been a pretty busy season this year with more than 50 archers competing in the North Island Championships, many archers travelling to the registered World Archery tournaments, with some half a dozen claims made at the high performance level to World Archery.

We’ve been waiting several months for more of the 1000-1300 badges as well as other “FITA” badges to come from Switzerland but they should be available shortly. Registrar Ivan Powley will get them out to the winners as soon as they arrive.
As I write our young archers are doing battle with a large and very strong team from Australia in the Trans Tasman Trophy...

Apologies for the delay in publishing, due to an administrative oversight

This New Year, one in which the Olympic and Paralympic Games take place in London, New Zealand started with a major international event, the Oceania Continental Qualifying Tournament. Unfortunately because the NZOC would not have selected an archer even if we won a place, it was felt to be fairer on the other countries concerned to not compete at all. Tom Dielen, Secretary General of World Archery, congratulated New Zealand on its “outstanding sportsmanship”.

Reports from the Archery NZ AGM
Held 6 January 2012 at Rathkeale College, Masterton

At the AGM on 6 January the reports posted here were approved by members. There was a good attendance at the meeting and the minutes will be available on the web site shortly.
Elected at at the meeting were Vice President Sandy Hughes; National Secretary Carole Hicks; JAMA Mike Ashburn; Judges Anne Mitchell. The Coaching Commission is still seeking a convener and a notice will be sent to the Commission members shortly. David Croskery will represent the Commission on the Board in the meantime. David is not available for nomination.
