It has been a pretty busy season this year with more than 50 archers competing in the North Island Championships, many archers travelling to the registered World Archery tournaments, with some half a dozen claims made at the high performance level to World Archery. We’ve been waiting several months for more of the 1000-1300 badges as well as other “FITA” badges to come from Switzerland but they should be available shortly. Registrar Ivan Powley will get them out to the winners as soon as they arrive.
Apologies for the delay in publishing, due to an administrative oversight
This New Year, one in which the Olympic and Paralympic Games take place in London, New Zealand started with a major international event, the Oceania Continental Qualifying Tournament. Unfortunately because the NZOC would not have selected an archer even if we won a place, it was felt to be fairer on the other countries concerned to not compete at all. Tom Dielen, Secretary General of World Archery, congratulated New Zealand on its “outstanding sportsmanship”.
