Trans Tasman 2010....YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!!

We need a team to defend the Title and Trophy won by NZ in 2008....

WHAT IS THE TRANS-TASMAN CHALLENGE?

The Trans Tasman Challenge is a bi-annual competition between juniors from Australia and New Zealand. Teams consist of up to 32 competitors (up to 2 Archers in each of the following Divisions):

In 2010 the Trans Tasman is scheduled to be conducted in Australia DURING THE JULY SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE NEW ZEALAND JUNIOR TRANS-TASMAN TEAM?

Archery New Zealand sets Qualifying Scores which will be used when selecting Team Members.

2010 QUALIFYING SCORES ANNOUNCED...

U20 Junior & U17 Cadet Men's Recurve = 1075           

U20 Junior & U17 Cadet Men's Compound = 1250

U20 Junior & U17 Cadet Women’s Recurve = 1025            

U20 Junior & U17 Cadet Women’s Compound = 1200

U14 Intermediate & U12 Cub Men's Recurve = 1025        

U14 Intermediate & U12 Cub Men's Compound = 1175

U14 Intermediate & U12 Cub Women’s Recurve = 975        

U14 Intermediate & U12 Cub Women’s Compound = 1125


Qualifying period will be from 1st May 2008 to EASTER 2010.

• Qualifying Scores must be shot at Major FITA Tournaments - dates for these are listed in the ANZ Website Calendar.

Recorded Minor Tournaments
can also be arranged by Clubs, and scores submiited for consideration.



Attendance at the 2010 Nationals is compulsory unless you apply for an exemption form the Archery New Zealand Board stating reasons

4 Qualifying scores are required.  

However other factors such as dedication, attitude and behaviour will be taken into consideration when selecting the team. Archers working steadily towards Qualifying Scores will be considered on their merit and achievement.

• Score's may be shot either in your current age group or the age group that you will be in 2010.  Consult the JAMA website for your correct age group.

TRANS-TASMAN AWARDS:
a)   Individual categories - 1st/2nd/3rd placing (regardless of numbers competing) shall receive Trans-Tasman Challenge medals.

b)   Matchplay (Recurve and Compound divisions) - 1st/2nd/3rd will receive Trans Tasman Challenge medals

c)  The Winning Team will receive the Perpetual Trophy.

All costs associated with the Trans Tasman are borne by the archer; it is Archery New Zealand policy to pay for entry fees only to International tournaments.  Archers please consult with you families as they will have to pay for your uniform, flights and accommodation if you are selected.

Team Managers are also required for this event.  Anybody considering taking up this important position; an outline of what is entailed is available.  Please note that managers also pay for their own uniform, flights and accommodation.
